Rocking LA style
Houstonians help Ringo Starr and John Varvatos give peace a chance at big celebration
Lucky the man (and his woman) who shops John Varvatos in Los Angeles. Just ask political bloggerBob Cavnar and Gracie Cavnar, founder of Recipe for Success, fresh from attending the retailer's invitation-only rock star bash featuring Ringo Starr and his All Star Band.
The Cavnars, with VIP passes in hand, were among 700 guests that included Marilyn Manson, Joe Walsh and up-and-coming singer/songwriter Emmett Skyy.
The concert/party, held outside of the Varvatos Melrose Avenue location, coincided with the International Day of Peace. It was held in conjunction with the #PeaceRocks campaign, created to raise awareness and money for the Ringo Starr Peace & Love Fund. Ringo is Varvatos' current brand ambassador and the two have forged a peace-infused partnership.
The Cavnars, with VIP passes in hand, were among 700 guests that included Marilyn Manson, Joe Walsh, who did a guest performance; and up-and-coming singer/songwriter Emmett Skyy, a native of Baton Rouge. (Ringo's producer Bruce Sugar is producing Skyy's next album.)
As for the Ringo Starr performance, Bob emailed, "The band was unbelievable including Edgar Winter, Nils Lofgren, Steve Lukather, Richard Page and Gregg Bissonette . . . Ringo was great, but was impossible to get close to with the crush. He was very gracious, though, saying hello to us backstage before the show."
