DiverseWorks steps out stylishly with a new artistic fashion fundraiser
Ah, a fresh idea in non-profit fundraising — DiverseWorks' "Fashion Fete, Art of the Runway." Organizers trumpeted the change — from the alternative art space's traditional wacky costume event to a designer fashion soirée — at a launch party in the art-filled home of Judy and Scott Nyquist.
Leading the charge to the new fundraising frontier were Fashion Fete co-chairs Liz Gorman, Tiffany Halik and Alton LaDay.
On Oct. 23, the DiverseWorks art space will be the scene of a fashion parade featuring high-profile designers from around the country and the world, the ensembles paired with original "wearable accessories" created by prominent Houston artists. On hand for the kickoff was aerosol artistGonzo 247, wearing a smashing jacket of his design.
Embracing the Fashion Fete were DiverseWorks executive director Elizabeth Dunbar, incoming board chair Jason Fuller, Marshal Lightman, Lea Weingarten, Jonathan Glus, Jordan Dupuis, Patrick Wade, Paul Pettie, Donae Chramosta, Jeff Shell, Roz and Alan Pactor and Rusty Arenaand Lindsay Moreno.
