VIPs celebrate upcoming Houston Fine Art Fair at intimate cocktail party
With only weeks to go before the curtain rises on the Houston Fine Art Fair with the opening night preview on Sept. 18, organizers and supporters are ramping up the excitement. HFAF chair Deborah Colton stoked the party embers recently with an intimate cocktail reception for the fair's steering committee and preview party host committee.
The chichi gathering of collectors and supporters of the fair gathered in the sleek Ultimate Ransom Room of Hotel ZaZa, official host hotel for the fair. Z Resorts president Benji Homsey flew in from his base in Dallas to welcome the participants.
Among the VIP guests (and they were all VIPs) was Asia Society Texas Center executive director Bonna Kol, thanking organizers for tapping the Asia Society as beneficiary of the opening night festivities.
In the mix were collectors Anita Webber Smith and Jereann Chaney, both of whom will join CultureMap in a panel discussion with women collectors on the afternoon of Sept. 19. Also on the panel will be Lucinda Loya and Judy Nyquist. (This writer will serve as moderator.)
Among those toasting the fair and sampling party fare from Monarch Restaurant chef Jeff Axline were Jennifer Dolman, Gerald Smith and sons Marcus and Jackson, Eddie Allen, Lily and Charles Foster, Beth Wolff, Duyen and Marc Nguyen, Judith Oudt, Maryam Afshari, Pilar de la Garza and Gretchen Porter.
