Simon Cowell, Austin Powers and David Beckham among the "celebs" rocking atBritish birthday bash
They had such a veddy, veddy good time at the House of Blues over the weekend that a birthday tradition was born.
After all, when Austin Powers, Charlie Chaplin, James Bond, Victoria and David Beckham and dozens of other "Brits" in costume show up, how can a party miss?
Happy birthday Jim Pearsall (Leo), Jarrod Klawinsky (Virgo) and Trevor Eade (Leo)! The trio masterminded the raucous first (and surely not the last) "BIG British Birthday Bash" that was months in the planning. They were joined by close to 800 revelers, who rather than bring gifts were asked to provide donations for one of three selected charities. AIDS Foundation Houston, Legacy Community Healthcare Services and Pride Houston were beneficiaries. It was the birthday boys' plans to give back rather than to receive.
HoustonPBS anchor and producerErnie Manouse, costumed as Quentin Crisp, emceed the party while DJs Joy De La O and Guy Sutton spun the sounds of British pop. As a special birthday treat, the Gay Men's Chorus, led by "Susan Boyle," delivered their rendition of "Happy Birthday."
British characters populating the party scene included Sade, the Beatles, Austin Powers' Fembots, DI Alex "Bolly Knickers" Drake and plenty of dandies in velvets and powdered wigs. Needless to say, there was beaucoup colorful cross dressing involved.
"SuBo" (Susan Boyle) took first place in the costume contest with Are You Being Served's Mrs. Slocombe and her Pussy taking a close second.
