Magazine publisher celebrates milestone birthday with bling-filled fundraiser
As Houston (Modern Luxury) magazine publisher Peter Remington approached his 60th birthday, he wasn't interested in presents or personal kudos. What he preferred was a party that would entertain friends and raise funds for his Cheers 4 Charities non-profit.
He got just that when B&B Butchers & Restaurant opened its second floor party room and deck for 150 guests who ponied up $60 each for a night of food, Intipalka wine and Demetrio "Peter-ritas." The party foods included caprese skewers, mini pizzas, crab cakes, truffle chicken salad and mini Beef Wellingtons.
Petite Sweets provided mini cupcakes in place of a birthday cake. The dessert was enough to inspire guests to join in singing "Happy Birthday."
Special guest Annie Nyugen of Nini Jewels was blinged out with a $23,000 starburst ring (large South Sea pearl and diamonds) and a $24,000 gold omega necklace featuring a large South Sea pearl pendant with 68 tiny diamonds totaling 1.78 carats. Winner of the Cheers 4 Charities gala raffle will have his or her choice between the two.
The gala is set for Nov. 17 at Deborah Colton Gallery.
Joining the milestone celebration were Regina Garcia, Cindi and Dr. Franklin Rose, Dr. Fred Aguilar, Ileana Trevino, Patsy Chapman, Terrie and Mike Turner, Taft McWhorter, Robin Brennan-Martin, Roz and Alan Pactor, Patti Murphy, Adrian and Brian Kreps, Jared Lang and Leisa Holland-Nelson.
