Oxygen masks for pets catch on after dog rescue: Houston pet store steps up to help fire departments
Seeing this photo of the Westfield Fire Department helping save the life of a smoke-ravaged pooch, the folks at Natural Pawz decided to come to the rescue. It seems that area fire departments don't have enough, if any, life-saving masks for pets.
When the proprietors of Natural Pawz, the Houston-based family-owned pet supply store, sponsored their fourth annual "Pawz for a Cause" fundraiser, they dedicated it for those pint-sized oxygen masks. They never anticipated the overwhelming response. For the month of June, they set a fundraising goal of $7,500, enough to purchase 100 pet oxygen masks for area fire departments.
Donations poured in, both in store contributions and online, until the final day when enough funds had been raised to purchase 200 pet oxygen masks that are being distributed to fire stations throughout Houston.
