High stakes are on the table for Health Museum's Casino Night party in August atHobby Center
Get your poker faces ready card sharks, the Health Museum is raising the bar on its annual Casino Night in August and Wednesday night, kickoff party guests savored a preview of the elevated energy level.
Momentum Audi honcho, Casino Night honorary chair and kickoff party host Jared Lang welcomed more than 250 guests to his showroom where shimmering fast cars served as backdrop for a fairly fast crowd. Disco tunes blared, Doublecross vodka and Barefoot wines flowed. The buzz was on for the Aug. 21 benefit at Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
Adding cachet to the upcoming benefit is Eva Farha, new Health Museum board member, and certified competitive gambler, who is chairing the Casino Night's first-ever poker tournament. She has fingers crossed and an early commitment that her brother-in-law and poker legend, Sam Farha, who wears a World Series of Poker bracelet (that means he's seriously good) will be at the tables. It's $200 a seat. Event tickets begin at $150.
No worries if you're not up to the truly serious card games. The night includes blackjack, roulette and a less intense version of Texas hold 'em. Add a Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin style crooner and a DJ to the fun as well as taste treats from Cordua Restaurants.
With Momentum Audi and newcomer West Houston Porsche as sponsors, key players including museum president and CEO Jon Iszard and auction chairs Maidie Ryan and Drew Wilson are hoping to generate enough excitement to draw 1,000 partygoers.
