For VIP guests at the Fidelity Futurestage Music Competition Finale Concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre, it was a night of air-conditioned comfort. How, you ask?
Party hosts Fidelity Investments and the Houston Symphony arranged for a climate-controlled tent (read that really cool) complete with crystal chandeliers and tables set with china and crystal for a little pre-concert fete. The swell catering team at Jackson & Co. provided the party fare while Virtuosi of Houston student ensembles delivered the classical entertainment.
Welcoming guests were Fidelity's senior veep and Texas market manager Jeanie Reckart and Houston Symphony principal pops conductor Michael Krajewski. They encouraged guests to sign the Fidelity signature wall. For every John Hancock posted, Fidelity donated $1 to its program of buying new instruments for local schools.
In the competition, Houston music students auditioned for four spots in which they were mentored by a symphony musician and then invited to perform on stage in the symphony's Miller Theatre concert.
