From Newscast to Catwalk
Top TV anchors and Houston media stars rule the runway for a good cause
We're not sure who was minding the news desks recently when 25 of the city's best-known television, radio and print personalities dressed up and stepped out in the latest fashions for the benefit of the homeless children of Star of Hope Mission. No matter, the city and the newsies survived in style.
The 17th annual "Haute for Hope Celebrity Fashion Show and Luncheon" filled the ballroom of River Oaks Country Club with media fans and patrons of the non-profit.
Dominique Sachse, Mia Gradney, José Grinan and Darby Douglas were among those modeling fashions from BB1 Classic, Nima Boutique and Festari for Men. Jewelry was provided by Kendra Scott. Celebrity models under direction of Todd Ramos included Melinda Spaulding, Rita Garcia, Rashi Vats, Greg Hurst, Melissa Wilson and Michelle Merher.
The event honored the late Puddie Pitcock and Doug Pitcock for their long-time commitment to the Star of Hope Mission. Doug Pitcock was presented with a Star of Hope signature piece of artwork, "Making Room for Hope," from Star of Hope president and CEO Hank Rush and vice president of marketing and communications Vivian C. Winslow.
Applauding the news-stars-turned-runway-models were Allison Triarsi Lewis, Courtney Zubowski Haas, Laura McWilliams, Yvonne and Walter Johnson, Susan Nelson, Sandra Smith, Lisa Appleby, Lisa Zook, Kimberly Chambers, Elisabeth Rush and Jessica Bucio.
