Young Hollywood stars shine at River Oaks party with boat rides in mammoth swimming pool

The scoop: For her fifth annual party, benefiting the Military Warriors Support Foundation, publicist Karen Steele gathered a hot group of young Hollywood actors and musicians at the Van Dyke's spectacular River Oaks home, where guests enjoyed boat rides skippered by Gene Van Dyke in the mammoth swimming pool, believed to be the largest home pool in America.
Star sightings included Katy Harris, who plays Violet on HBO's The Leftovers, Major Dodson (Sam on The Walking Dead),Dalton Gray (Mike on American Horror Story), American Idol's Zach Person, The Food Network's Nancy Manlove, David Born (The Duel), Genevieve Allen (Big Sky), Gary Takacs (The Girl's Guide to Depravity) Brandon Buttrey (his zombie apocalyse film Range 15 is n theaters next month, actor and Army reservist Giovanni Silva (Olympus Has Fallen), Joshua Diaz (USA's Queen of the South), and cast members of a new show, Dreamsville.
A special moment came when Person, Allen and John Hogan and Maria Moss of the duo Hogan & Moss surprised Regina Garcia, the wife of El Meson chef Pedro Garcia, with a rendition of "Happy Birthday," which she marveled was the best she ever heard. Person also thrilled the crowd with his electric guitar version of "The Star Spangled Banner."
Guests noshed on tapas from El Meson prepared by chef Garcia, spicy cheesecake tarts from Hotel Icon chef Laura Trigo, Whole Foods fig cakes and artichoke fritters, Cru Wine Bar's Champagne Bar, Karbach's craft beers and Lola Savannah's Southern Pecan coffee and iced coffee.
