The scoop: With an impressive turnout of H-Town influentials, the 12th annual Go Red for Women luncheon scored a whopping $870,000 for the fight against the number one killer of all Americans, heart disease. Sponsored nationally by Macy's, the Houston fundraiser is sponsored by the Texas Medical Center. Not so coincidentally, the Go Red for Women campaign chair is TMC chief financial officer Denise Castillo-Rhodes.
Special guests included Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, who provided the invocation, and keynote speakerDr. Jennifer Ashton, co-host of Emmy-Award winning medical talk show “The Doctors,” monthly columnist for Cosmopolitan magazine, obstetrician-gynecologist, and author. Heart transplant patient Kayde Wolf gave a testimonial on her surviving heart failure.
