Great Gatsby-inspired jewels are star of the show at Tiffany & Co. movie screening party
With bubbly flowing, uniformed waiters passing hors d'oeuvres and Jazz Revisited playing tunes from the '20s, Daisy Buchanan would have felt right at home at Tiffany & Co.'s VIP cocktail party and screening of The Great Gatsbya few days before the movie opened nationwide. Right down to the tuxedo-clad security guards.
The bar area of downtown's Sundance Cinemas served as party central for a cast of 100 or so of the best customers and friends of Tiffany and as a showcase for the Tiffany jewels created for the film. Three willowy models draped in rings, necklaces and bracelets strolled through the well-heeled gathering. And, yes, that stunning daisy signature ring on the hand of one of the models was the exact ring worn by Leonardo DiCaprio in the film. Swoon.
Particularly fetching was the platinum, diamond and seed pearl bracelet, priced at $190,000 and the pearl bracelet with the diamond hand-ornament priced at $75,000. The fact that several guests were seriously shopping the diamond rings ($72,000 and $90,000) had to have pleased party host Mike McClure, Tiffany & Co. group director.
While a sprinkling of guests actually wore '20s era costumes, Debra Grierson found a Chanel in her closet that fit the bill and newlywed Carol Piccione wore her wedding dress for its appropriate flapper vibe.
Picking up their 3-D glasses as they filed into the theater were Cynthia and Tony Petrello, Mark Grierson, Rosemary Schatzman and daughter Mary Beth Schatzman, Nancy and Lucian Morrison, George Lancaster, Nick Day, Susie and Sanford Criner, Ericka McClure, Karen and Scott Rozzell, Kathy and Scott Gwin, Karmen Miller and Carmen Lloyd.
Everyone went home with a signature Tiffany & Co. blue box containing a beautiful edition of The Great Gatsby, designed especially for Tiffany & Co.
