Cute Young Things fill Atrium for a look-see at hot new designer Prabal Gurungand his threads
Of-the-moment hot, hot designer Prabal Gurungsat comfortably in the Atrium salon at Casa de Novia on Wednesday while fashion writers flocked around him like bees to honey, questioning him on everything from dressing First Lady Michelle Obama to his years as Bill Blass design director.
Hovering around the charming Gurung, waiting for the interviews to end, young fashionistas, who know a thing or two about dressing up and sizzling designers, were ready for his attention. How did they look in this dress? How did that gown fit?
Chairs of this little gathering celebrating Atrium and Gurung were sisters-in-law Greggory Burk and Allie Fields, both seriously checking out the dresses that ranged from around $1,200 to $6,000.
Atrium/Casa de Novia owner Luvi Wheelock wore a stunning rose-colored Prabal Gurung dress while she purred over the goings-on.
"I'm just lucky," she said when asked how she managed to lure Gurung to her tiny retail space. The designer has had several trunk shows at Neiman's Galleria store but he had before never landed in Houston. "I've always been very lucky with these kinds of things," Wheelock added.
There was plenty for the ladies to check out on this early evening, for even if they weren't in the market for cocktail or evening attire, the stunning collection of Casa de Novia wedding dresses that lined the walls were delicious diversions.
