Marilyn Monroe in that sexy dress & a toast of lovelies sizzle at River Oakstennis tourney lunch
As soon as River Oaks tennis tournament luncheon chair Lilly Andress saw the film My Week With Marilyn, she knew exactly the theme she wanted for the two-day poolside event at River Oaks Country Club. So she asked event producer Lenny Matuszewski if he could wrap the annual Tootsies fashion show, which is central to the luncheon, in a Marilyn Monroe theme.
No problem there. In fact, practically all of the 640 guests attending day one of the two-day fashion event approved of Lenny's take on the poolside Marilyn fashion parade. The gents especially applauded the Marilyn model in white halter dress standing over the air vent, skirt billowing in the air a la that iconic image from The Seven Year Itch.
Visual references to Marilyn ran througout the Tootsies fashion show (many agreed it was the best clothes selection ever) and were present at the chairwoman's table where party favors included giant "diamond" rings, actually fanciful napkin rings that Lilly had found at Events.

As is tradition, the day was a sellout within minutes of the reservations lines opening, as was Thursday's repeat. No one wants to miss this ultimate see-and-be-seen in your best spring frock opportunity, even on a day like Wednesday that was decidedly hot for those seated in the sun, pleasant for those finding shade.
And as is tradition, a number of men attended including the Men's Clay Court Championship tournament chairman David Modesett and his wife, Diane. New River Oaks Country Club president Dean Patrinely, a luncheon regular, was on hand with his wife, Karen. And looking on from the balconly level was Lilly's husband Thurmon Andress.
Tootsies Mickey Rosmarin and his stable of fashionistas applauded the show as did Jana Arnoldy, Cynthia Allshouse, Bain Pearson, Mary Lynn Marks, Denise Cartwright, Stephanie Eugster, Lillie Hutcheson, Jenni Swyka, Linda McReynolds, Maureen Hackett, DeeDee Marsh, Kelli Weinzierl and Mary Ellen Bos.
