Legendary comedian cracks up crowd with classic TV salute at benefit luncheon

The 411: As guest speaker, funny man Bob Newhart regaled the gathering of 800 with tales of his different experiences in Hollywood, his appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show and how The Bob Newhart Show came to be. He spiced up his presentation with a video of collaborations of old episodes, which proved amusing in itself. Each time Newhart made a joke, he would chuckle a bit, the 85-year-old still making himself laugh.
Co-chairs helping raise $400,000 for the charity were Regina Rogers, Anna and Harold Marie Hidalgo, Cathy and Giorgio Borlenghi, Jes Hagale, Nancy and Tom Macrini, Charlene and John O’Shea, Kari and Sean Tracey.
The event honored Most Rev. Joseph A. Fiorenza, archbishop emeritus, with the Legacy Award, presented by foundation president Les Cave. The Rev. Bill Lawson provided the invocation.
