At this glorious time of year, who doesn't love Houston? The weather is perfect (at least for a few days), the azaleas are in full flower and trees are sporting their spring green foliage. So then, what better time to enjoy the natural beauties of Bayou Bend and its lush acres of wooded gardens?
The annual Bayou Bend Cocktail Party welcomed 350 supporters for an evening of music, light bites and socializing amid a virtual garden of bountiful floral arrangements all presented with grace and elegance in the vast party tent that is erected each spring in the gardens of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston house museum that features American decorative arts.
The tunes of Ross Chitwood wafted across the sloping lawns of the home of the late Miss Ima Hogg while waters from the Diana Fountain performed their cascading dance at one end of the gardens. Waiters from City Kitchen glided through the party space offering a variety of scrumptious morsels. The genteel tableau played out against a backdrop of regal floral arrangements from McDugald-Steele Landscape Architects.
Nancy and Erik Littlejohn chaired the elegant evening that saw a host of notables pass across the Buffalo Bayou bridge to the party scene. Among them were Vallette and Russell Windham, Muffet Blake, Laura and Matthew Baird, Rania and Jamal Daniel, Kelli Kickerillo and Todd Forester, Katie and Whitney Mears, Ann and John Bookout, Sima and Masoud Ladjevardian, Cabrina and Steven Owsley and Liz and Tom Glanville.
