Big cats prowl a Museum District home for endangered species gala: Bringing the fight home for wildlife supporters
What: An afternoon in support of the Cheetah Conservation Fund.

The 411: Two of the beautiful big cats, on leashes with trainers, from Houston Zoo provided just the right imagery for the 120 guests who had gathered to learn about the endangered species. The afternoon event was co-hosted by the Cheetah Conservation Fund and Houston Zoo with support of EJF Philanthropies.
Laurie Marker, founder and executive director of the Namibia-based conservation effort, and Houston Zoo director Rick Barongi discussed the plight of the cheetah and the risk of extinction including the present dangers that cheetahs face in the wild. Marker was in from fund offices in Alexandria, Va.
