Sporting clays tournament keeps 'em shootin' straight at "Target for Tourettes"benefit
It wasn't all about shooting clay pigeons at the "Target for Tourettes" fundraiser held at the Greater Houston Gun Club although there were more than a few serious corporate teams competing for the prizes — handcrafted leather humidors by Maidas Belts and Buckles.
Top prize was the IW Marksman Award, an oversized sterling silver shotgun shell created by the jeweler. And that gem went to top gun Butch Mach.
Once the smoke settled and the earplugs were out, recording artist Tommy Alverson cranked up his guitar and Reef's Bryan Caswell and Bill Floyd put on a spread of surf 'n' turf that had guests returning to the buffet more than once.
Jyl and Keith Calcote, chairs of this inaugural clay shoot benefiting the Tourettes Syndrome Association of Texas, did such a good job that plans are to continue this fundraiser in the years to come.
Supporters spending the afternoon and evening at the gun club included Fielding and Meredith Cooke, Andy and Tim McDaniel, Roseann Rogers and Dr. Aashish Shah, Phyllis and Benfield Riggs, Forrest Jackson, Windi Grimes, Gail and William Woods and Andrea and Bill Reid.
