Easter Seals' Hats Off to Mothers luncheon meant the battle of the brims in thisgarden of chapeaus
While the fascinators were certainly fetching and the cloches trés chic, it was the wide-brimmed wonders that ruled at Tuesday's Hats Off to Mothers luncheon benefiting Easter Seals. Grand swaths of delicately-woven straw enveloped some of the most fashionable heads in the city including a number of the 10 women recognized for their community leadership and their roles as moms.
Taking bows amid the sea of battling brims in the ballroom of River Oaks Country Club were honorees Peggy Barnett, Cheryl Creuzot, Isabel David, Patty Dominguez, Dr. Kelli Cohen-Fein, Arvia Few, Eileen Hricik, Karen Johnson, Denise Monteleone and Bobbie Nau. As many as 400 turned out in support of these stellar representatives of modern-day motherhood.
In a display of the polar opposites in fancy headwear, luncheon chairs Yvonne Cormier and Claire Cormier-Thielke donned boldly-hued pillbox and fascinator, respectively, while their companion luncheon chairs Lynda Lighthouse Transier and Christine Pearce Transier stepped out in voluminous, wide-brimmed confections.
Savoring the visual stimulation provided by the myriad of hatted ladies were guests including Liz Stapanian, Victoria Johnson, Diane Lokey Farb, Patty Herrera, Elizabeth Stein, Jana Arnoldy, Melinda Berkman, Terrie Turner, Ginger Blanton, Janet Cockrell, Merele Yarborough, Phoebe Tudor, Donna Vallone, Nancy Willerson and Ileana Trevino.
