Sports celebs turn out in force for trendy new West Ave restaurant opening
A universal "YUM!" resounded through the new Del Frisco's Grille when 500 scenesters poured in for the VIP opening party and were met with enough tasty offerings to please the entire Houston Texans team. But on this night, it was tight end Owen Daniels who had center stage as the celeb who cut the red ribbon.
Houston Texans GM Rick Smith and wife Tiffany, Chicago Bear Fendi Onobun and Baltimore Raven James Ihedigbo were among the sports celebs that joined the grazing throng.
The lavish menu included cheese steak egg rolls, ahi tuna tacos, mini-filet sliders, garlic shrimp and chorizo flat bread, mini-chicken and waffle skewers and a seafood bar laden with plump Gulf shrimp and oysters on the half shell. Those with a sweet tooth found satisfaction in the lemon cake balls, coconut cream pie, chocolate Nutella bread pudding and adult milkshakes.
The welcome party included Del Frisco's Restaurant Group CEO Mark Mednansky in from headquarters in Dallas, Del Frisco's Restaurant Group regional manager Arthur Mooradian, Del Frisco's Grille general manager Scott Sieck and chef Jeff Taylor.
Checking out the new hotspot in West Ave and sampling the party fare were Ali Taghi, Houshang Taghi, Karen and Byron Hood, Eric Andell, Joanna and Griffin Winn, Jay Andrew and Parker Witt, Stacy and John Andell, Jared Lang, Roseann Rogers and Dr. Aashish Shah, Roz Pactor, Tawnia Aswell and Dan Barton.
