Fast cars, cool crowd, hot music: First-ever CultureMap Close-Up Music Seriesgets the party started
From the red carpet entrance at Asia Society Texas Center where two hot ATS Cadillacs welcomed guests to the rockin' scene where the Airborne Toxic Event performed, the CultureMap Close-Up Music Series jolted traditional party wisdom — just as those new Caddys put a youthful spin on the venerable auto brand.
More than 700 invitation-only guests poured into the sleek Asia Society structure for a high-decibel bash that transformed the typically serene venue into a pulsating club environment.
One lucky guest from the three parties will be named in a few days as winner of the new ATS.
Quiet corners became watering holes where thirsts were quenched from a stable of Partón libations — Ultimat vodka and Silver Patron party favorites. The usually zen-like halls of the center rocked to the sounds of DJ Sun. Suds guzzlers had their fill of beers from Ben E. Keith Co.'s Real Ale Brewery. The Jade Stone Café spread its culinary joy throughout the first floor. And Smilebooth took over one corner for playful photo opps.
As the party reached fever pitch, the indie rock band Airborne Toxic Event took over the Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery for a peak performance concert that held the youthful throng in a music frenzy.
Of course, they had had plenty of sustenance to generate that energy with sugar infusions offered from Sprinkles Cupcakes, Sweet Charity (chocolates) and Fluffpop (ephemeral treats on a stick).
Many in the crowd, culled from the city's top young professional groups, ponied up with email addresses for a chance to win one of the new ATS babies. Houston was the final of back-to-back CultureMap/Cadillac parties held in all three CultureMap markets including Austin and Dallas. One lucky guest from the three parties will be named in a few days as winner of the new ATS.
Making the Houston scene were a cross-section of guests including Houston Cadillac Group president David Peacock, Chris Goins and Josh Pazda, Danielle Duhon and John Abrash, Lisa Benitez, sisters Jessica Nimon and Veronica Nimon, Sandy Leonard, Weston Timura, Michelle Yeglic, Colin Moussa, Brandy Chu, Celeste Tammariello and Apama Mackey.
