Over the moon: Museum of Natural Science gala reaps a $1.3 million windfall
Marie Louise and David Kinder and Rachel and Mark Lawrence had more than 1.3 million reasons to kick up their heels at the Houston Museum of Natural Science on Saturday night. For that was the dollar take from the "Fly Me to the Moon" gala which they so ably chaired.
Museum president Joel Bartsch was in equally high spirits as 900 black-tie attired guests explored almost every corner of the museum including the Paleontology Hall, the Energy Hall, the Gem and Minerals exhibition and the Texas Wildlife display. The only part of the museum off limits for the pulsating crowd was the Cockrell Butterfly Center. Those babies need their beauty sleep. Corpse Fower Lois remained out of sight as well.
City Kitchen did the dinner honors delivering their sumptuous fare to all corners of the museum as guests were seated throughout the vast exhibition space. Dessert was served buffet style, with custom bananas foster as a special offering, in the dance tent erected on the museum plaza.
Once guests had their appetites sated, they headed to the tent for dancing to the sounds of SkyRocket.
Making the party scene were Greggory and Pat Burk, Melissa and Michael Mithoff, Elizabeth and Gary Petersen, Susanne Bartsch, Laurie and Reed Morian, Brady Carruth and Zane Carson, Randa and Charles Williams, Allie and Jay Fields, Linda and Jerry Fields and Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence.
