H-Town red carpet
Oscar action reaches Houston: Forget Anne Hathaway's nipples, it's about big money wows
While Anne Hathaway was causing nipple-gate in Hollywood Sunday night, a gilded flock gathered at The Heights Villa to celebrate Oscar and to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
The Oscar Experience, the only Oscar watch party in Houston sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, presented guests with a red carpet arrival where the paparazzi went wild as 104.1 KRBE's Ryan Chase of the Roula & Ryan Show played welcoming host.
The black-tie gathering was one of as many as 50 held around the country as American Cancer Society fundraisers. (Last year's event raised $3.1 million nationwide.) The Houston event raised $40,000 on Sunday. That meant feathers in the caps of chairs Gina Keith and Tiffany Johnson.
While the Oscars were aired via a large-screen projector, KTRK Channel 13's Sonia Azad did the honors as local emcee.
Stepping out in Oscar finery were Tiffany Halik, Tonia Silcott, Michael Wells, Gina Keith and Robert Levy, Brooke Mirabi, Sandeep Khandelwal and Ruchi Murherjee, Kristen Belote, Craig McLemore, Emily Jaschke, John Share and Trish Earles.
