Sun shines on young "Flock" of partygoers at Houston Zoo
Houston weather can be so fickle. One day 25 degrees and wet; the next sunny and balmy. Seriously thanking the weather gods were members of Houston Zoo's Flock group of young professionals who had the perfect weather for their annual "Beastly Brunch" at the zoo.
More than 230 Sunday wayfarers prowled zoo grounds while sipping mimosas, Bloody Mary's and St. Arnold beer around the zoo's romantic reflection pool where giant oaks provide plenty of shade for midday partying. Zoo staffers made the rounds introducing zoo residents such as a chinchilla, screech owl, rabbit and several birds to the group.
Flock committee members Liz Gorman, Gloria Luna, Jennifer Juarez and Denise Furlough helped organize the outdoor fun that was aimed at the 21- to 40-year-old contingent.
Once the brunch fest had concluded, a number of guests stayed on to explore the zoo grounds, take in a sea lion show, visit the baby elephants and feed lettuce to the giraffes. Animal fans included Sarah and Saba Jawda, Claudia Solis, Stuart Rosenberg, Alex Rosa, Tamar Mendelssohn and Casey Clay.
