Partying like it's 1920: Historic showhouse mansion brings out real estate & design stars
A beautiful house, beautiful interiors and a beautiful night — the party gods smiled on Preservation Houston Friday for the opening soirée of the Villa de Luxe designer showhouse in Shadyside.
The non-profit was the beneficiary of the cocktail-attire evening that found several hundred admirers touring the William Ward Watkin-designed home that 20 interior designers had transformed into a tasteful wonder. (The house will be open for tours each weekend in February. Details here.) The Italian Revival mansion dates from 1920 and the architectural details are resplendent. It is not to be missed.
Welcoming guests were designer showhouse chairs Jane-Page Crump and Bill Stubbs along with benefit chairs Nancy Ames and Danny Ward and Eileen and George Hricik. Martha Turner and Glenn Bauguss joined in extending the hospitality, her Martha Turner Properties and Christie's International Real Estate, co-sponsors of the showhouse presented by Luxe Interiors + Design.
Owner of the house Antoinette Seigler was on hand as well to welcome guests.
The bonus on this night was the expansive party tent that was erected across the lawn. Beautiful decor, the jazzy sounds of The Gypsies and a yummy buffet from Jackson and Co. filled the tent with a robust energy that translated into a glowing evening.
Savoring the various elements of this exceptionally pleasant fundraiser were Ann and Don Short, Dorothy and Mickey Ables, Jan and Gene Cernan, Cristina Girard, Alexandra Marshall, Laura and Michael Umansky, Penny Jones, Karen and Bob Aspromonte, Patty and Bill Porter, Carol Barden and Ramona Davis, Preservation Houston executive director.
