Shopping Extravaganza
Bargain hunters score big at Tri Delta shopping extravaganza benefiting pediatric cancer research
Members of Houston’s Tri Delta alumna partnered with Texas Children’s Cancer Center to host a January shopping extravaganza, The Sale, to support pediatric cancer research in the Texas Medical Center.
A champagne shopping preview kicked off the two-day affair as 300 attendees got first dibs on some fashionable finds. Emcee Melissa Wilson of Fox 26 introduced Texas Children's Cancer Center director Dr. David Poplack, and shared her personal connection to the cause by highlighting her son’s successful treatment for leukemia.
The weekend-long event attracted over 1,000 bargain hunters, who scored big on discounted items from more than 50 locally-owned boutiques, including Elaine Turner, Tootsies, À bientôt, The Eye Gallery, French Cuff Boutique, Monkee’s, Julie Rhodes Fashion & Home, Raspberry Rose, Savannah House, Pinto Ranch, and Tenenbaum Classic Jewelers.
Organized by co-chairs Tracy McCleary and Laura Williams, with the help of 70 volunteers, the event raised more than $160,000.
Shopping with a purpose were Connie Wright, Nancy Butler, Connie Brown, Ann Doggett, Martha White, Sandra McBride, Christine Ammons, Mary Williams, Cyndy-Garza Roberts, Stephanie Gerry, Derrick Shore, Jason Williams, and Ryan McCleary.
