The scoop: In his first try for elective office, Ben Rose is thinking outside the box in his campaign for Texas State Representative in the 134th District. More Than You Can Imagine owners Vicki Rizzo and Mauri Oliver opened their chic vintage resale and design shop for Rose's campaign kickoff fundraiser, drawing a crowd that normally doesn't get involved with politics, along with seasoned political pros.
"I know and respect Republicans. Half of my family's Republicans," Rose said to much laughter, "but the Tea Party politics that we have in Austin right now are not my dad's Republican party." (He's running as a Democrat.)
Who: Attorney Andrew Cobos introduced Rose as parents Dr. Franklin Rose and Cindi Harwood Rose, along with wife Laura Max Rose proudly looked on.
