Beloved Mexican bakery opens in west Houston with 100 different fresh items daily
A beloved Houston bakery has arrived in West Houston. El Bolillo Bakery is now open in the Mission Bend neighborhood at 6766 S Texas 6.
Founded in 1998 near the Heights, El Bolillo offers Latin breads, pan dulce, tres leches, and more. Each location bakes more than 100 different items fresh daily without the use of preservatives.
At 12,000-square-feet, the new bakery is the company’s largest location. It features an outdoor patio that’s a first for the bakery, giving shoppers a place to sip a cup of coffee while enjoying a freshly baked concha, bolillo, or empanada. Other design details include a brightly-colored exterior and a light blue ceiling that’s an homage to Mexican murals, according to a release.
“We're absolutely thrilled to join this wonderful community and continue our tradition of serving delicious treats, just as we've done in the rest of Houston for the past 25 years,” owner Joel Gaza said in a statement. “Our goal is to bring a delightful variety, foster togetherness, and share warmth with everyone who walks through our doors. Plus, we're excited to make life a little sweeter for our loyal customers from the Westside Houston, cutting down their drive to our more central locations!”
As Garza notes, the bakery has three other locations: one on Airline Drive near the Houston Farmers Market, one in Pasadena, and in the Gulfgate neighborhood near the intersection of Wayside Dr. and I-45. Garza Management, the company being El Bolillo, also operates local bakery Common Bond in partnership with CEO George Joseph.
Like its siblings, the new El Bolillo will be open daily from 6 am until 10 pm (6 am-6 pm on Thanksgiving).
El Bolillo will celebrate the new location’s opening with specials from January 2, 2024 until its official grand opening on January 6. Look for specials such as 25 cent bolillos, free coffee, giveaways, and more.
