Farm-to-table Houston food festival returns to Montrose for year 3
One of fall’s most popular food festivals is back for its third year. Chefs for Farmers will take place September 28 and 29 on the grounds of Autry Park, a mixed-use development near the intersection of Allen Parkway and Shepherd Drive.
Saturday’s event focuses on street food. Participating chefs include Bobby Matos (Little Rey’s), Kirthan Shernoy & Kripa Shenoy (Auden and EaDough), Cory Nguyen (Crawfish & Noodles), Cristina Benitez (Cafe Piquet), and Victoria Elizondo (Cochinita & Co.). More will be announced soon.
For the third year in a row, Sunday features many of Houston’s top restaurants. Participants include Quy Hoang, Robin Wong, and Arash Kharat (Blood Bros BBQ); Evelyn Garcia and Henry Lu (Jun); Chase Voelz (Bludorn); Christine Ha (The Blind Goat); Yotam Dolev (Hamsa and Okto); Travis McShane and Ray Melendi (Ostia); Drake Leonards (Eunice); and others.

Attendees will also get a sneak peek at a couple of restaurants that haven’t opened yet. Celebrity chef Luis Robledo Richards will preview Mayahuel, a Mexico City-inspired cantina that’s opening at Autry Park later this year, and chef Tim Reading will be serving bites from Leo’s River Oaks, a luxurious steakhouse opening next to the River Oaks Theatre.
Tickets for both days are on sale now. Early bird pricing is $125 for general admission and $175 for VIP passes that allow attendees to enter one hour earlier. Prices will rise to $145 and $195, respectively, once the early bird tickets sell out. Admission includes food, wine, beer, cocktails, live entertainment, and more.

Having covered the “chefs” aspect of the event, let’s turn to “for farmers.” The event works with local farmers to supply ingredients for the chef’s dishes. Participating chefs are given a stipend to spend with the local farmer they partner with. Through these partnerships, CFF hopes to expose the farmers to new customers.
