A classic West Village restaurant heads to Houston's west side
Can anyone feel a tremor in the city?
It's the almost imperceptible shift of Houston's culinary center moving west. In the once sedate Town & Country area, CityCentre has made chic dining the norm. But now the grand dame of the neighborhood, Memorial City Mall, is getting in the game.
When the Westin Houston Memorial City opens adjacent to the mall in April 2011, it will be bringing in a foodie favorite all the way from New York.
Il Mulino has been a Greenwich Village staple for almost 30 years, and though it's been eclipsed in buzz by the likes of neighbors Babbo and Da Silvano, it's been rated consistently as one of New York's best Italian restaurants by New York magazine and Zagat.
Now Il Mulino is bringing their Abruzzo-focused, high-end Italian cuisine to Houston. While there are a dozen Il Mulino restaurants in foodie cities across the country (Chicago, Las Vegas, Aspen), Houston will be the site of the third Trattoria Il Mulino, a slightly more casual take on elegant Italian specialties.
As befits a hotel restaurant, Trattoria Il Mulino will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and will incorporate a lounge area for eating, drinking and socializing after dark.
Trattoria Il Mulino will also feature an open kitchen, private dining rooms and an extensive wine list.
