Hey y'all! Paula Deen is coming to Houston for a foodie extravaganza
Start your diet now — you'll need it.
The butter-loving, soul-food-cooking Southern aunt you never had, Paula Deen, is coming to Houston.
She's the marquee celebrity chef at The Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show, a food and entertaining extravaganza heading to Houston for the first time on Sept. 17-18, 2011.
The MCES will fill Reliant Center with tastings, demonstrations by local and national chefs, workshops and over 150 exhibitors selling gourmet goodies and all things food and entertainment. Think the Nutcracker Market with a little less tinsel.
The show has become a staple in Washington, D.C., where it launched five years ago, and in Atlanta, bringing in Food Network chefs including Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, Tyler Florence and Giada De Laurentiis. Paula Deen has been a staple of the event since 2007, and according to organizers her demonstrations always sell out weeks in advance.
Tickets for the event are now on sale, with general admission starting at $22 and tickets that include the Paula Deen demonstration in the 2,500-seat "celebrity theater" starting at $65, with VIP passes going for $400.
Are you excited to see Paula Deen? What celeb chefs light your fire? And between Rodeo Bites and the Nutcracker Market, does Houston need a food-centric shopping festival?
