Bustling Cajun restaurant fires up new Memorial City outpost
A new restaurant will bring a taste of New Orleans to Memorial City Mall. The Rouxpour will open its fourth Houston-area location at the mall on December 11 with an official grand opening on December 14, the restaurant announced.
Known for serving Cajun classics like chargrilled oysters, seafood gumbo, and redfish topped with shrimp etouffee, Baton Rouge native Mack McDonald opened the first Rouxpour in Sugar Land in 2010. Since then, the restaurant has added locations in Friendswood and Katy.
“We’re excited to show Memorial City and surrounding communities what we have to offer," McDonald's wife and business partner Cynthia "Tan" McDonald said in a statement. "We’ve had such an overwhelming response to this concept and we’re just happy to continue doing what we love, and watching our customers leave full and happy.”
They'll have the opportunity to show lots of customers a "what we love." The 9,000-square-foot restaurant will seat approximately 475 diners. Exposed brick walls, fleures-de-lis, and green banquettes and booths are all designed to spark memories of the French Quarter.
Open for lunch and dinner — weekend brunch begins in January — The Rouxpour features a combination of McDonald's family recipes along with some restaurant-specific items such as pastas and Certified Angus Beef steaks. Those dishes are paired with beer, wine, and New Orleans-inspired cocktails such as the Hurricane and Sazerac.
The new Rouxpour is located at 303 Memorial City Way. During the week, the restaurant opens at 11 am; weekend brunch starts at 10 am.
