Burger invasion: Dallas institution with best burger in Texas title cooks up aHouston move
It's taken on faith in Houston that nothing Dallas is, has or does could possibly be better than what we have in H-Town. (Unless you want to win five Super Bowls, but, you know, bygones.)
And yet The Burger House, a Dallas concept started back in 1951, nabbed the title of best burger in Texas from Hamburger America recently.
Now the burger joint, which has seven locations in Dallas (and one in Lubbock) and caters to a college crowd, is planning to make inroads in Houston. It's signed a franchise agreement with Houston-based CWKS Enterprises Inc. and company reps say it's scoping out locations in the Rice Village area for a 2012 opening.
It's hard to say what a franchise will do to the original concept, but according to a press release, several CWKS partners are SMU alums and long-time Burger House fans, so hopefully they'll keep it as close to the original as possible.
With Burger House coming on the heels of Five Guys and Smashburger, is there room for more burgers in Houston, or would you rather just go to Burger Guys or Hubcap Grill?
Have you ever tried Burger House? What did you think?
