Mo's to Shutter
Galleria-area steakhouse that was social set hangout will close after Halloween bash
Although 2016 has been a year with many high-profile restaurant openings, it has been a rough one for long-established places. Sparrow, Mark's American Cuisine, and Zelko Bistro all closed this summer, and now a once-popular Galleria-area hangout has announced it will soon shutter.
Mo's...A Place for Steaks will close after its Halloween party on October 29, owner Johnny Vassallo announced Wednesday. The restaurant has been operating for 10 years in the space on Post Oak once occupied by Tony's.
"We would like to thank all the wonderful people of Houston for supporting Mo's throughout the years," the man known as Johnny V said in a brief statement. "There will be a Farewell Party on Oct. 27th and Halloween Parties on Oct. 28th & 29th. Please visit www.mosaplaceforsteaks.com for more details."
With its cigar-friendly patio and expansive bar area, Mo's has always been known as a comfortable hangout, but hot spots only stay that way for so long. While devoted regulars have kept the place afloat, the once boisterous crowd has moved on to places like Caracol and, more recently, Steak 48 and Le Colonial.
The Vintage Park location of sister concept Mo's Irish Pub will remain open.
