Garden & Gun talks Southern food with Bryan Caswell, sends Houston restaurantlove
If you like lush photography, a vintage yet modern style and thoughtful ruminations on the Southern lifestyle, you should have discovered Garden & Gun by now.
But if you're new to the Charleston-based magazine, the October/November issue is a great place to start. Focusing on Southern food, G&G picked the mudbugs at Chinatown's Crawfish & Noodles as one of the 50 best Southern dishes. Anvil Bar & Refuge also merited a mention on the new cocktail scene, including a full-page shot of mixologist Alex Gregg's Rooster Cogburn recipe.
It's not the first time Garden & Gun has featured Houston restaurants. Last year Catalan got plenty of love in the April issue.
As a bonus, there's an online video of a chefs roundtable featuring some of the top regional talent — including Hugh Acheson, Edward Lee, Matt Jamie, Sarah O'Kelley and Houston's own Bryan Caswell — talking about the state of Southern cuisine (and Caswell's grandmas' competing gumbos).
