A win for the suburbs: Inner Loop Italian restaurant moves into Katy to feel the family love
When D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe shuttered its location in The Heights, owners Nash and Brina D'Amico said they were moving the second location of their Rice Village institution to the more family friendly confines of Katy. That restaurant opened to the public on Tuesday.
As with the original, the Katy location features a menu of Italian-American classics with a Texas twist. Highlights include the signature crawfish ravioli in a rich, bright tomato alfredo sauce and the super-thin, extra-crispy Nash pizza.
D'Amico's brings high quality, Italian-American fare to the growing LaCenterra complex.
Inside, the restaurant offers two distinct seating areas. To the left, the casual cafe space features checkered tablecloths and an extensive selection of to-go items that includes dried pastas, Italian sodas and bottles of wine. To the right, the more sophisticated restaurant space has wooden tables and stylish lighting fixtures. Throughout the restaurant are pictures of multiple generations of the D'Amico family.
During a visit to the private, friends and family service, the kitchen seemed on track to find its footing, turning out a version of the Nash pizza that matches the original. The service staff is enthusiastic, if a little young and inexperienced. There wasn't anything that didn't seem like it could be dialed in quickly.
For Katy residents, D'Amico's brings high quality, Italian-American fare to the growing LaCenterra complex. With a space that offers both family-friendly and more adult environments, it should be a hit.
