Saks Fifth Avenue opens up a new bar inside its store: Hey, shopping goes betterwith a drink
Tucked inside the second floor at Saks Fifth Avenue, 51Fifteen is the ultimate spot for ladies who lunch, with a mauve-grey color palette and an intricate wall sculpture patterned like the petals of a flower that runs the length of the dining room and is often lit in glowing pink light.
But what about the Saks men? After seven years, they once again have their own space with the opening of 12, a new bar and casual cafe on the third floor of the department store in a formerly open space inside the men's department.
The name 12 is derived from 51Fifteen (5 + 1 + 1 + 5 = 12) and the bar functions as an offshoot of the restaurant, with both managed by the Landmark Hospitality Group.
Starting a grand opening on Thursday, 12 will offer "exquisite coffee drinks, specialty cocktails and world class scotch and tequila selections," plus appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries under the direction of 51Fifteen chef Pedro Silva.
The sleek European design of the bar includes a couple flat screen televisions for guests to relax in front of after a day of shopping.
