While not exactly the picture of healthy green fare (neither are the Ruggles Green brownies, but I digress), the sweet potato fries here are singularly addicting. Whether it's the perfect thin texture and smushy-to-crunchy ratio, the rock salt or the tomato basil sauce we dip them in, these are unbeatable.
In a paper cylinder on the side of a burger, the Byrd's sweet potato fries are great — thick yet firm. But when ordered as an appetizer, they come with a quartet of sauces, including an apple molasses aioli and a white cheddar that's worth fighting over.

Maybe the first to jump on the sweet potato fry bandwagon a couple years ago, the SPF (yes, we've initialized it) at Hubcap are a little crunchier, a little less sweet and equally craveable.
4. Barnaby's
There's an internal divide among Barnaby's fry enthusiasts. Should you stick with the fine chipotle barbecue sauce that Barnaby's serves with them, or ask for the sharp bleu cheese dip that comes with the waffle fries. I hate to be controversial, but for the record I am on Team Bleu Cheese. The sweetness of the thick fries combined with the cheesy tang is an amazing flavor combo that can't be beat.
