As the inner loop slowly starts to dry out, more and more Houston restaurants are returning to business. Hopefully, today (Tuesday) will be the last day of updating this article, because eventually most restaurants will return to business.

Houstonians who have hunkered down and been lucky enough to avoid the floodwaters are eager for a meal outside their homes. Those who have had to evacuate are even more ready for the comforts of a restaurant meal. All those hungry people can unintentionally overwhelm a restaurant that’s working with a limited staff and limited ingredients.

Still, the message from chefs and restaurant industry workers on social media has been that they’re ready to get back to work feeding people. Just be aware that the situation at any individual restaurant is fluid; it could run suddenly run out of food or service could be slow.

Be patient. Be safe. Hopefully, things will get back to normal as soon as possible.
