Austin invades Houston again
The Austin-ization of Houston continues: Doc's will soon be in the house
Looks like yet another Austin joint will be making the trek to H-Town. Doc's Bar & Grill has announced on its Facebook page that it will be taking over the old Wendy’s location on the corner of Westheimer and Graustark. The third location for the Austin drinkery could open as soon as November, although no construction is taking place now and the hull of the former fast food establishment looks forlorn at the moment.
With killer cocktails, craft beer, and food to boot, this patio-happy establishment will join a burgeoning bar scene on lower Westheimer, with the wildly popular Royal Oak across the street and Boondocks and Anvil close by.
A representative of the Austin bar declined to comment on the Houston move. But if Doc's keeps the same format as their Austin locations, the patio will include a big kids playground. Drink and food specials are offered each weekday, and yelpers rave about the fried pickles, mini dogs, fish and chips, and burgers. Fresh salads are offered for those on a more healthy path.
Previously Barbarella, the popular Austin video dance club, announced it will set up a Houston outpost in the former Status location on San Jacinto. It plans to open next month.
