Wings and waffles FTW: Houston spot earns best breakfast in U.S. honors for oldschool dish
Did you know that "hot, puffy waffles and fried chicken wings" were once a staple of Harlem nightclubs in their heyday? According to Delish.com and Esquire magazine, that's the tradition that The Breakfast Klub is following with its signature breakfast dish.
Delish and Esquire put Breakfast Klub on their list of the "best places for breakfast in the U.S.", with a special mention of not only the wings and waffles but also the friendly vibe that owner Marcus Davis and the staff give off, with "how y'all doing?" and "God bless you" for guests that often have to wait in winding lines that stretch through the parking lot.
The only other Texas restaurant on the list of 40-something morning spots is the H&H Car Wash and Coffee Shop in El Paso.
It's not the first time Breakfast Klub has received national attention for its classic Southern fare: Good Morning America, USA Today and Wendy Williams have all touted the Midtown hotspot.
