Houston spot named the best restaurant in Texas — and No. 6 in the entire U.S.
Bon Appetit magazine restaurant editor Andrew Knowlton has named The Pass & Provisions America's sixth best new restaurant. The dual-concept restaurant in the former Gravitas space on Taft is the highest ranked restaurant in Texas (besting Austin's Jeffrey's).
It's the second year in a row a Houston restaurant made the Top 10. Justin Yu's Oxheart placed eighth last year.
In his profile, Knowlton calls The Pass's dish of Ham and Eggs "the most awe-inspiring dish" he ate this year. He praises the inventiveness and flexibility chefs Seth Siegel-Gardner and Terrence Gallivan show by operating two restaurants under one roof.
"The dual concept (one kitchen, two distinct experiences) allows this talented team to both flex their culinary muscles and please the masses under one roof, making The Pass & Provisions the best restaurant(s) to open in Houston in the past year," Knowlton writes.
Alma in Los Angeles takes the No. 1 spot on the list.
