2 popular Houston restaurants plot exciting expansion to Katy
Two of Houston's most popular neighborhood restaurants are coming to Katy.
Gr8 Plate Hospitality announced it is bringing both a Jax Grill and The Union Kitchen to NewQuest Properties’ Stableside at Falcon Landing, a residential development near Cinco Ranch. Construction on the project is expected to begin later this summer, with a goal of being open by early 2019.
The new location will be the Houston area's sixth Union Kitchen. Known for its eclectic, crowd-pleasing menu and extensive wine list, the new TUK will occupy 5,000 square feet with a capacity of approximately 400 people. Jax Grill's third location will be about 1,000 square feet smaller (at 4,000 square feet) and seat approximately 350. Both spaces will feature expansive patios that face a shared green space.
“The Katy area has been growing for a long time, and we really feel like with the demographics and the families that we have out here, it will be a good fit for our concepts,” Gr8 Plate owner Paul Miller said in a statement. “We’re very connected and committed to the communities and neighborhoods that we serve, and we look forward to continuing that in Katy.”
Miller and his wife Doris have been riding high. The couple recently followed up their win as the Houston Restuarant Association's Restaurateur of the Year with statewide recognition as the Texas Restaurant Association's Outstanding Restaurateur award.
