If you live or work near the Galleria, there are plenty of places to shop and plenty of places to buy an expensive steak, but not so many places to grab a good beer.

That's what PJ Jamea (whose last project was the shuttered Felix 55 in Rice Village) and Hossein Oskouie are hoping to change with The West End, which opens today. Located in a former car wash on Westheimer Road just west of The Galleria, the bar comprises 8,300-square feet, including an enormous 5,000-square-foot patio that holds 400 people.

West End is named after the neighborhood in London where the first gastropub (a pub with gourmet food) opened.

The bar has more than 50 craft beer taps, including multiple offerings from local favorites including Karbach, Saint Arnold, (512), Southern Star and Buffalo Bayou as well as cocktails. A sneak peek of the menu on Facebook includes an incredible-looking breakfast for dinner plate that includes fries, bacon, a fried egg and tomato on toast, among other goodies.
