How popular is Uchi Houston? Crowds are still packing the restaurant every day and the first $45 Houston community dinner sold out in 15 minutes.
That kind of intense interest should only go up this weekend as James Beard and Top Chef winner Paul Qui is heading to Uchi Houston this Saturday through Wednesday.
Qui, the executive chef at Uchiko in Austin, has been on something of a global tour since his star started rising in 2011, doing stints at other restaurants, including Noma in Copenhagen, ranked by some as the best restaurant in the world.
If you don't already have a reservation, a weekend table might be out of your grasp but a Tuesday or Wednesday night meal might still be available. Or you could always try lining up as the restaurant opens at 5 p.m. for one of the coveted walk-in slots (Warning: you won't be the only one).
