Houston Restaurant Weeks is returning with a new twist
Now in its 10th year, Houston Restaurant Weeks — the Houston Food Bank-benefiting foodie fundraiser that runs during the month of August and through Labor Day weekend — is going bigger than ever with a new logo and, more importantly, a new twist.
In addition to the $20 two- or three-course, prix fixe lunch menu (which generates a $3 donation for the Houston Food Bank) and the $35 three- or four-course offering at dinner (which yields a $5 donation), some participating restaurants will also offer a $45 three- or four-course dinner menu with "something a little more special added," with $7 of the total going directly to the food bank.
It's the perfect way to sample the Bayou City's award-winning cuisine for a bargain while also giving back to the community.
Though the names and menus of participating restaurants won't be posted on the website until July 15, Houston Restaurant Weeks founder Cleverley Stone hints that Del Frisco's and Del Frisco's Grille, Sullivan's Steakhouse, Up, Américas and Churrascos have expressed early interest in this year's event.
The 2012 totals will be hard to beat: The month-long fundraiser tallied more than 253,000 meals served at 169 participating restaurants, and resulted in a record $1.22 million in donations to the Houston Food Bank.
Houston Restaurant Weeks will run from Aug. 1 through Sept. 2, 2013. Find more information, and make other monetary donations to the Houston Food Bank, on the website.
