Arturo's quick change: Chef's new restaurant already open, lawsuit against theold one continues
That was fast: Less than two months after he left Arturo's Uptown Italiano in a storm of controversy, Arturo Boada has opened his new restaurant, Arturo Boada Cuisine.
The restaurant opened quietly on Saturday night in the former Bistro Don Camillo space in the Memorial area, with a first push of publicity gained by competing in the 1st Annual Meatball Invitational at Damian's on Sunday. (More on that later, but as a meatball judge, I can say that Boada's beef and pork version had a great texture if a little too much garlic.)
County court records indicated that Boada also withdrew his much-publicized suit against his former partners in Arturo's Uptown Italiano, JWS Trading Company, after his bid for a temporary restraining order to stop the restaurant from using his name was denied last month. But Boada tells CultureMap that the name-rights suit continues in federal court.
Boada also says that the soft opening of his new place "went fantastic," though he's still shaking out the details. Arturo Boada Cuisine will be open Tuesdays through Sundays for lunch and dinner.
