Good eats for a good cause: Choose from 70 Houston restaurants when Dining Outfor Life
Put down that spatula. For one day a year, you can completely retire your kitchen and leave the cooking to the pros with no guilt — it's all for a good cause.
That's the philosophy behind Dining Out for Life, now in its fifth year nationwide.
On Thursday, almost 70 restaurants (and a few bars) in Houston — the most ever — will participate by donating 33 percent of all sales to AIDS Foundation Houston. And a few featured restaurants — including Barnaby's, Benjy's, Niko Niko's and Laurenzo's — are even donating 50 percent or more.
Check out the Dining Out for Life Houston website to see the full list of restaurants, as well as who's serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. This year as a bonus any diner can also ask for an envelope to enter a drawing for a chance to win two roundtrip tickets from sponsor Southwest Airlines.
And if you want more than just a regular meal out, check out the restaurants that are going above and beyond. The Boom Boom Room, Cha Champagne Bar and T'afia will have live music on Thursday, while Arcodoro will have a DJ spinning and drink specials.
Riva's will have a $20 buffet with live entertainment, and Julia's Bistro is offering a special prix fixe menu with music and entertainment. Canopy will host the Spring Forward for the Arts party the same evening to benefit AIDS Foundation Houston.
If you finish dinner and you're still hungry for more, head to F Bar for the Dining Out for Life Fifth Anniversary Celebration from 9-11 p.m.
So no matter your schedule, there's an easy way for everyone to go out and enjoy the dining and nightlife scene, while giving to a worthy cause.
