    Tout Suite Expands

Popular EaDo bakery/cafe heads west to where it all began

One of EaDo's most popular dining destinations is heading west. Tout Suite will open a second location in Memorial City Mall, commercial real estate firm announced CBRE announced on Tuesday.

For owners Anne Le and Sandy Tran, the new location represents a homecoming of sorts. The duo opened their first concept, the coffee shop and bakery SWEET, in nearby CityCentre back in 2011.

"We are excited to bring all of our signature desserts and dishes to a location where shoppers can conveniently grab something to eat or take a seat at one of our community tables,” Tran said in a statement. “The menu will feature fresh, locally-sourced options that will be a healthy addition to the mall’s current dining options.”

The mall spot, which will be located near the skating rink and is slated to open this summer, will focus more exclusively on "grab and go" items rather than the fast casual model of service that's part of the EaDo location.

"Although Tout Suite's owners were originally a bit hesitant about locating within a mall, they were really drawn to the location’s family-based ownership and its history,” said CBRE's Brian Ashby. “Memorial City really resounded with Tout Suite’s ownership and they are excited for everyone in and near the area to come enjoy and experience their macarons, eye-opening caffeinated concoctions and home-grown brand of cool."

Maybe not quite as cool as Shake Shack opening in The Galleria, but, in the ongoing battle to improve mall dining from the bad old days of Sbarro and Panda Express, adding Tout Suite definitely gives people another reason to shop at Memorial City.

A Houston sports bar known for its carefully crafted food will soon opens its door. On the Kirb will make its debut this Saturday, November 15.

Located in the former El Tiempo space at 6777 Woodlands Parkway, the Houston area’s fifth On the Kirb occupies a 6,000-square-foot space with a 2,000-square-foot covered patio. It’s been given a comprehensive renovation to make the rustic look of its four siblings and to add enough TVs to follow all the day’s games.

As always, sports fans will find an ingredient-focused approach to bar food. All of its meat, dairy, and poultry are organic. Similarly, the restaurant uses tallow to fry items such as wings, Brussels sprouts, and fries, which has become a trend at some Houston restaurants.

The menu also includes keto items, Neapolitan-style pizzas made with imported flour, burgers, wraps, and tacos. A weekend brunch menu features egg skillets, pancakes, and avocado toast. Pair them with craft beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic sips.

Weekly specials include organic taco Tuesday, grass-fed steak night on Wednesday, and half-off bottles of wine on Friday.

“We are really looking forward to bringing our fresh approach to the traditional sports bar scene in The Woodlands,” owner Joe Arbeely said in a statement. “From ample TV’s to catch your favorite team to premium outdoor space and bar food you can feel good about indulging in, we’re confident On the Kirb is going to be a great add to the dining scene in this community.”
