Final Four Drinks
Houston bar toasts Final Four school mascots with special drinks
The staff at the Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa likes to say that the road to the Final Four may end in Houston, but the drinks don't stop until The Bar closes. To celebrate the big weekend, The Bar team has concocted special drinks for each of the participating universities' mascots in what they're calling the "Final Four Firewater."
For the University of North Carolina, whose nickname is Tar Heels and whose ram mascot is Rameses, the bar has shaken up a "Tar Heel Wader" of Absolut Elyx pineapple vodka, Dolin vermouth and choice of fresh garnish.
For the Villanova Wildcats, the "Will D. Cat" consists of Hendricks gin, St. Germain, Manor House mint, cucumber, ginger agave and fresh lemon juice.
Syracuse fans, whose mascot is "Otto the Orange," can enjoy the "Orange Otto," a mixture of Ketel One Oranje vodka, Manor House mint, fresh lime juice and sugar cane.
Oklahoma Sooners can drink "The Boomer" with Appleton Estate 12-year-old rare blend rum, bitters, fresh orange juice & a Luxardo cherry.
The drinks will be available all weekend at The Bar at the Post Oak-area hotel, with Final Four Hours of noon to 2 am Friday and Saturday, 2 pm to midnight Sunday and 3 pm until 1 am Monday.
